How to Build an RC Plane

If you are a remote control plane enthusiast, why not make the next addition to your own collection one you built yourself? This task is both fun and surprisingly easy to accomplish. There are several different types of remote control planes you can build, anything from plastic to wooden and several other types as well. Here, we discuss the steps to building a plane using hard foam.
First: Bringing your design to life
Before you begin this project, you need to make a drawing with the exact measurements so that you can accurately plan how much of each material you need to complete the task. If drawn to spec, you can effectively use this blueprint to outline your remote control plane, making your life and the task at hand much easier as a result. It is also a good idea to make a list of all the items you need to make the main body, such as a foam board, 3M Super 77 spray adhesive, 1/4 inch tubing, a small hand-sander and a sharp utility knife.
Second: Forming the main body of the plane
You begin by making the main body of the plane. For this, you need a piece of Styrofoam, or residential sheathing insulation, that is preferably 4 x 8 feet, and one half inch thick. This type of board maintains its form, yet is very light-weight, which is ideal if you want to get your remote control plane off the ground. On this piece of foam, there is an onion-skin type of covering that needs removal prior to you using it on this project.
